Saturday, August 26th, 2017 / Red Mountain Ranch

For over 30 years, Red Mountain Ranch Country Club—nestled in the far northeast corner of the valley—has served as an unmatched reflection of what life in the east valley is all about: strong and distinctive communities boasting exceptional schools; parks and open spaces; convenient access to shopping and recreational amenities; and extensive arts & cultural opportunities. The beauty of Red Mountain Ranch Country Club is its versatility. Whether you’re primarily a golfer who believes the best way to conduct business is out on the course, or your interests are more focused on the fine dining side of social interaction, we guarantee the club has something just for you. For instance, once you’ve played its Dye-designed masterpiece, you’re going to want to return again and again to conquer this shot-maker’s course with its challenging holes.

Tony Dalton is smoking hot lately as he scores a 63 net at Red Mountain Ranch. Now as anyone knows who has played that track, it isn’t easy by any means. A 76 gross score indicates the game he had today. Well done Tony. Second place goes to Larry Burton playing as steady as can be at 67 net. Third goes to Tim Haight working his way back to winner form. Dan Campos takes the Atta-a-Boy at 70 net. Next up

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017 / We Ko Pa Saguaro Course

The Saguaro Course at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club combines distinctive desert-golf traits with the timeless traditions of golf course design. For example, it’s built for walking with greens situated near to the next tee. It follows the natural movement of the land; they didn’t move much dirt. And the playing corridors are wider when compared to target-golf design. AWARDS AND ACCOLADES Like its sister course, Saguaro has garnered numerous awards and accolades from golf industry leading publications. Golf Digest give it the 21st spot in its 2015-2016 list of the “Best in State Rankings: Arizona,” which considers both public and private courses across the state. And, Golfweek magazine honored Saguaro with three “Golfweek’s Best” rankings: 5th on the “Casino Courses” list for 2016; 2nd “Best Courses You Can Play: State by State” in Arizona for 2016; and No. 30 on Golfweek’s 2017 list of America’s “Best Resort Courses.”

Dave Dean struggled a bit but was able to overcome and win on a scorecard playoff with Tim Haight. Both had 71 nets but Dave had the better back nine. John Euler takes 3rd place with a 75 net  score. Dan Christiansen took the Atta-a-Boy home. Funny that usually goes to John. Rest of the fields scores are below.

Ambiente Course
Designed by notable golf architect Jason Straka on behalf of Hurdzan/Fry Environmental Golf Design, Ambiente presents a distinct challenge where accuracy and a good strategy command the day, as every hole will force even the best players to focus on each and every shot. Golfers find the eye-catching elevation changes, as well as rolling fairways with significant drops throughout the course, are among its most striking features. Ambiente was completely renovated and re-opened as a new course in November 2013.

Steady is back again, Fred Baldwin takes 1st place with a 63 net, nice job Fred. New comer Mike Roether come in 2nd with a nice 74 gross, 65 net. Nice work too Mike. Tied at 67 nets, Chris Ray and Al Dan went to the scorecard playoff. Chris took 3rd and Al was the Atta-a-Boy winner. I’m told Ron Amstutz scored and Eagle on hole #3. Nice Ron. Next up The Golf Club at Estrella, be there. Rest of the fields scores below.

Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 / Arrowhead Country Club

With a spectacular Arnold Palmer-designed championship golf course as its centerpiece and superlative service as its cornerstone, Arrowhead Country Club re-defines the private golf and lifestyle club experience. From its beautiful clubhouse and state-of-the-art sports club and spa to the comprehensive swim complex, 10-court tennis center and myriad of dining and banquet venues, Arrowhead offers members and their guests endless opportunities for socializing, networking, competing and memory-making amidst the stunning beauty of Glendale’s West Valley.

Tony Dalton finds his place in the sun today by winning the Arrowhead Country Club event at 70 net. Perhaps a vacation is good for the soul. In second place Gordon Lukert the Dean and self proclaimed Patriarch of VGA with a fine 72 net. Some rumors about the R being put back on his handicap, I hope are not true. Perhaps the Palmer spirit has taken over his body. Third place was very popular today, four players scored a tie at 73 net. Dave Dean got the last paycheck for 3rd place on the scorecard playoff. Well done Dave. Neal Fisel, Steve Richter, and Mike Roether share the Atta-a-Boy. Next up Camelback-Ambiente on Saturday another fine course to challenge your golfing spirit. Saturday, August 5th, 2017 / Legacy

The Legacy Golf Club, rich in heritage and history, is an 18-hole par 71 championship golf course designed by renowned golf course architect Gary Panks. Located on what was once Dwight B. Heard’s 7,500-acre ranch, the golf club is rich in Arizona heritage and history. Taking great pride in preserving and integrating many of the historical structures and monuments, our 18-hole championship golf course offers a unique look and an added opportunity to experience some Arizona history and of the Heard legacy, from which the golf club takes its name. The original two-grain silos, built in 1902, still remain along the 18th fairway and were once the tallest structures in Maricopa County. The Sierra Vista House, which marks the 1st tee, was visited on occasion in the early 1900’s by Theodore Roosevelt and Pancho Villa. Come make your own history at the Legacy Golf Club!

The Golden Boy, Rusty Silverman was a happy camper today. He closed out a great round with an Eagle on # 18 at Legacy and scored a very impressive 60 net score. In his own words about the Eagle, Bombed 3 wood off the tee. Another 3 wood just short and chipped it to take Freddy’s money”. Well done sir. Three other players tied at 66 net. They were Doug Patterson who got 2nd place, Tony Dalton who got 3rd place and Tommy shoes or no shoes gets the Atta-a-Boy. All on a scorecard playoff. Course took a beating from heavy wind and heavy Rain. Ponds out there that no one has ever seen before. Over all very playable as always out there. Remember the O’Keefe cup, a match play event vs the Saturday Golf League is coming up. The Venue I understand it’s going to be at Antelope Hills in Prescott. Danny Campos tells me we have room for 24 golfers for this fun Match Play. O’Keefe will be watching. No date is firm yet but try to keep your schedule a little flexible. Wednesday we take on Arrowhead CC, so everyone should look forward to that. Rest of the fields scores below.

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017 / Bear Creek

Beautifully Cloudy all day at Bear Creek Golf Course. Little too humid however. First place went to Larry Burton with a 66 net score. Great job Larry and thanks for picking up one of my lost balls today. Surprised you didn’t find more. Tied for 2nd, Bill Myers and Steve Richter at 67 net scores. Bill got 2nd on the scorecard playoff and Steve got 3rd place. Not enough players to pay out for 3rd today but I contributed to Steve’s IRA today anyway. Tom Giljum picked up the Atta-A-Boy at 68 net. Well done Tom. Next up on Saturday, Legacy should be a big field. Rest of today’s scores below.
