Jeff Currie stepped up and won the Pueblo El Mirage event today with a 66 net score. In second place was Neal Fisel back on the course after a little eye surgery. He scored a 67 net. Must have improved your eyesight eh Neal? Great job. Tom Hebert and Bill Heller tied at 68 with Tom getting 3rd on the scorecard playoff. Atta-a-Boy Bill Heller. One Birdie today it appears and Danny Campos captured it on # 16. Almost more money than 1st place got. Rest of the scores below. See you all Wednesday at Club West.

Beautifully cool day to play golf in AZ. When the sun came up it was great. Fred Baldwin didn’t get an ACE but he did win the event today with a dern good 63 net, Well done Fred. Second place goes to Rich Golz with a 65 net and third place went to the Golden Boy Rusty Silverman with a net 66. No Atta-a-Boys today, sorry fans. Rest of the scores below.
Next up for VGA, Saturday, January 28, 2017 Pueblo El Mirage 8:30 $45.00.
You’ll never wait long to tee off here. Carefully designed on 6,600 yards, our 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course, designed by Fuzzy Zoeller, is ranked one of the best in the valley, and it’s waiting for you. It is pure paradise. Pueblo El Mirage’s golf course will challenge you – yes – even if you’re the most seasoned player. With delicate levels of difficulty you’ll continuously fall for it’s challenging ways, pristine greens, radiant lakes and what seems like endless rolling fairways. Water comes into play on 13 holes. Just picture a 118-yard, par-3 requiring a tee shot over water to a peninsula green. Now, keep imagining it, or you’re welcome to come experience it at signature hole #3. We are big believers in quality and affordability, which is why our year-round golf rates are affordable. You are able to purchase to play by day, week, month, quarterly, semi-annually or annually. Afterward, stop in the El Mirage Sports Bar and Grill to enjoy our great food and beverage offerings.
The winds blew and it was cool, but no rain at the Wickenburg Country Club today. Fred Baldwin known as Steady Freddy has another nick name now. Ace as in hole in one Ace. Word is he connected on hole #3 with his trusty six iron from around 137 yards. I always say the skill comes in when you get them close, luck is when they go in. You had it all today Fred, way to go. In first place today, Danny Campos at 71 net. One stroke behind him for second place, Rusty “Golden Boy” Silverman @ 72 net. In third place Ron Amstutz @ 79 net. Rest of the field below.
Next event up for VGA, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 Palm Valley 7:51 $53.00.
Ok guys, Margaret Storms did it again, whipping the field with a scolding 63 net two strokes over the next two guys for her second VGA win. Margaret you really make us all proud that you are a VGA Member. Dave Dean and Doug Rankin tied at 65 net. Dave got second on the scorecard playoff and Doug who struggled a little on the back nine really should have won but gets 3rd instead. Rest of the scores for the field below.
Next event up for VGA, Saturday, January 21, 2017 Wickenburg CC 8:30 $44.00.
Big smile, and why wouldn’t he be smiling? He just scored his second under 60 net score in less than 12 months. Ken Baca won the Ken McDonald event with a scorching 58 net. Great work Ken and sorry for posting your brothers face as you. I will find them and replace them. Ben Hughes takes second and I’m sure he didn’t expect 2nd with a 62 net. For that matter the “Golden Boy” Rusty Silverman probably didn’t suspect getting 3rd with a 64 net. Twelve under 70 scores for today. The rain held off and it was a nice day for golf. Rest of the scores below.
Once again cool and cloudy. Dave Dean got 1st place with a pretty good 68 net judging from the rest of the scores. Three strokes off Dave pace, Tom Giljum at 71 net for 2nd place. John Euler picked up 3rd place money with a 72 net. Nice work on the course gentlemen, hope the Card game was even better. Rest of the field below. Looking for a big turnout at a VGA favorite, Ken McDonald on Saturday. Sorry no Atta-a-Boys to award, hope no one is too disappointed. Another note comes to mind since Doug “Doug 2” Patterson was a no show today. Doesn’t appear he lost much of his Wednesday Big Dog lead as he has applying a big can of Whoop A** to the Wednesday group. According to my calendar today was his Birthday. Happy Birthday Doug.
Next event up for VGA, Saturday, January 14, 2017 Ken McDonald 8:30 $44.00.
Weather in Gilbert was cool and cloudy, can only assume the weather in Casa Grande was similar. The Legend adds to his feats that made him a legend, but it was too close. Danny Clark and Jeff Currie tied at net 68, but Jeff got 1st place on the scorecard playoff. Danny got 2nd. Ben Hughes and Danny Campos tied at 69 net for 3rd place and Ben won it on the scorecard playoff. Unfortunately for Ben we didn’t have enough players to pay out any third place money. Bummer for Ben. Danny Campos was left with the Atta-a-Boy. Neither player I’m sure was amused. Big question of the week, “will the Legend play the Legend @ Arrowhead coming up this Wednesday”. We’ll see, eh? Rest of the field scoring below.
Next up for VGA,Wednesday, January 11, 2017 Legend @ Arrowhead 8:00 SG $50.00
What a hoot it was playing with Bill Heller. He actually played better than I have ever seen before from him. Missed by one stoke for a three way tie for 1st. Two Doug night was in effect again, Doug (one) Rankin got 1st on the scorecard playoff and Doug (two) Patterson got second place also at 63 net. Bill was third at 64 net. See you all at Francisco Grande Saturday. The other losers are listed below.
Next up for VGA, Saturday, January 7, 2017 Francisco Grande 2 @ 9:00am for $52.00.
