Heard’s 7,500-acre ranch, the golf club is rich in Arizona heritage and history. The original two-grain silos, built in 1902, still remain along the 18th fairway and were once the tallest structures in Maricopa County. The Sierra Vista House, which marks the 1st tee, was visited on occasion in the early 1900’s by Theodore Roosevelt and Pancho Villa. Come make your own history at the Legacy Golf Club!

Doug Rankin on the Rogue River.

Winner today with an excellent 62 net score Douglas Rankin. 78 gross for Doug today. Getting so he can’t get in the 80s anymore. Playing very well as of late. Doug is going in for hip replacement on the 12 of September so he may be not playing for awhile. I remember when he had both knees replaced at the same time. Believe he was back hitting the ball in about a months time so I doubt he can be held down very long. Good luck Doug and we all wish you back asap after surgery and don’t get any  of that Iron Man stuff put it. Second place goes to John Euler playing with Doug in the same group. Some good golf in that group. John scored a 68 net. Third place goes to Tom Giljum. Had the pleasure of playing with Tim Haight today. Been wanting to know how he does it. Caught him pouring some strange looking red stuff in his water jug today. He didn’t exactly say what it was. He finished with a Birdie out of the sand trap in the hole on #18. Perhaps I may buy some of that red stuff too. 😉 Rest of the scores below.

Saturday, August 27, 2016-Dove Valley Ranch

Unlike many of Arizona's "target" golf courses, Dove Valley Ranch Golf Club is player friendly, with manicured transition areas that allow its guests to recover without penalty. RTJ Jr. also put a premium on strategy and variety, which translates into a challenging yet refreshing round of golf. Factor in service that is second to none, and no wonder this lush layout on the outskirts of Phoenix is so popular with locals and visitors alike.

Tim Haight takes another first place finish and captures the money with a 4 stroke advantage (64) over the second place finisher Tom Hebert (68). Tim also shot past the field for 1st place on the 2016 Saturday Big Dogs Contest. This guy can not be slowed down and good for you Tim. As stated, taking second with a very respectable 68 net Tom Hebert. Nice work Tom. Tied for third at 73 nets, Dan Clark and Dan Christiansen the Atta-Boy kid. Dan Clark  won third with the scorecard playoff. Dan Christiansen got the Atta-Boy, again.  Not bad for a two Dan showing. Rest of the story below.

Why do they call it Dunes? You know now if you played. Challenging and beautiful and probably pretty warm too, but not so much today I suspect. One of my favorite courses to play although it rises way above my playing skills. In first place today was Bradley Rinehart with a 69 score. Second place was a tie, what’s new, Steve Richter and Ron Gunderson came in with identical 72 nets. Steve got 2nd on the scorecard playoff and Ron too third. Good work out their gents and here are the rest of the scores.

6000 yards with a 141 slope, what was I doing out there. Tim Haight should be there and tied Kevin Gilmore at 72. Tim won on the scorecard playoff and Kevin took 2nd place. Tied at 73 John Adair and Jeff Currie, John won the scorecard playoff and Jeff got the Atta-Boy. Hot and and humid, but a beautiful Red Mountain Ranch course and since everyone struggled a bit it was all ok. Rest of the field’s scores below.

Today there was a three way tie for first place with 67 net scores. Rich Perry took 1st, Fred Baldwin got second and Golden Boy aka Rusty Silverman got 3rd place. All on the scorecard playoff. Course changed venue on us so we played Cattail instead of Devil’s Claw. Same same as for as I’m concerned. The course was great, the weather ok, too much humidity, great playing partners, who could ask for anything more. Oh I know I wish I didn’t collect two 8s on the last two holes.  All scores below.

L-R, Steve Richter, Doug Patterson, Gordon Lukert, enjoy the beauty of the The Boulders Golf Course. June, 8th, 2016

Beautiful morning at the Boulders this morning. The course folks said they had no rain in the last storm to hit the Phoenix area, but that didn’t stop the humidity. Sun was covered up for most of the day so it was very bearable as far as that goes. Ron Gunderson the little giant that could did it again, getting around in just 65 net strokes for first place. Way to go Ron you are a freak of nature. Speaking of Rons,  Ron Amstutz came up one short but got second with a 66 net. Tim Haight finished off the money winners for the day, taking third place with his 70 net. Good job guys and thanks to all that played. Rest of the scores are below.
