Saturday, July 30th, 2016/Wickenburg Ranch

Well if you played today I’m sure you came away with a favorable impression of Wickenburg Ranch and the Golf course there. Sure looks beautiful in the pictures, but don’t they all? Should have been a first time for a lot of our players, so I’m sure it was interesting play. No messing around for John Adair, the long ball hitter won today with a smoking 64 net. Tied at 65 nets and one stroke off the winning pace, were Dan Christainsen and Danny Campos two veteran VGA players who can hit with the best of them too. Christainsen won on a scorecard playoff. Campos get 3rd. Nice scoring guys hope it wasn’t to hot. On a personal note, I had an opportunity to speak to Don Peterson on his 76th Birthday today. He sounded good and it was great to speak with him. He was quite instrumental in getting me into VGA. I had some friends that were members and I used to like to play as a guest with them from time to time. Don put a stop to that and got me to join up and pay the dues. Glad he did, I think. His asked that I convey his greetings to all the VGA members. Miss you out there, my friend. All scores for today below.

A 7:30 am shotgun start should have helped beat the heat at least a little today. Coming in first today, Scott Sheets with a real good 63 net. Second place to Ron Amstutz playing very hot lately at 65 net just 2 strokes off the pace. Third place to Ollie Wentzel at 66 net. Playing well lately Ollie, eh? One odd little note, but Steve Richter had 4 birds for the day most of any player and if I’m reading this correctly they were all good birdies. Nice work Steve, I bet getting close to the cup had something to do with it. I know I’ve seen him do it. Nice work. Four players tied at 67 net and five players tied at 70 net. Interesting indeed.  All the scores below:

Grayhawk was absolutely Grayhawk today. Beautiful wild and tough all at the same time. My cart partner for the day Doug Rankin was tough too. Not only did he have to face Grayhawk, he had to play with the Tres Amigos who couldn’t hit a golf ball straight in a garbage can. He held it together and won 1st place with a 68 net, the only under 70 net for the day. Great job Doug you were awesome. Second place went to Dan Christiansen with a 70 net, nice work Dan. Third place went to Luke Desautels at 71 net. Luke played conservative today in fact so conservative he didn’t get in the money pot. Still gets third points and position. Good work Luke. Third place money goes to Tony Dalton at 74 net. Atta-boy winner it appears was Danny Campos tied with Tony but losing on a scorecard playoff. The players in between were not in the money pots. Next up Wildfire in Scottsdale. You will want to check it out.
